The lava lamp that earns its shelf space

For the orange-object wish list, Mathmos’s full Astro lava lamp product page includes a yellow-liquid, orange-lava option. Mathmos says it has manufactured the Astro in Poole, England, since 1963. The full lamp and the replacement bottle are different products—check which one you are viewing.

Our design pick is the orange glow and unhurried movement: a small spectacle that does not need another screen. This is an editorial recommendation linking to the manufacturer, not an item currently sold by OMGinger. Canadian availability, electrical compatibility, resale terms and supplier fulfilment remain unconfirmed.
